Group Co-Ordinator - Dave Rolfe

The transport group had its November outing at The Living Memorial in Rettendon, located on the old Chelmsford Road where the Sunday Car Boot Sales used to be held.
It is set a short drive from the road on what was a farm field, but is an amazing labour of hard work, love & compassion that the land owners family have been developing over the past 19 years.
It is a huge site with sections dedicated to not only all the soldiers, sailors & airmen who served their country in many wars that the UK have been involved in, but also to the Emergency Services that keep us safe every day.
There were 12 in our group for this visit, and we were taken on a tour by Robert our guide of the individual huts which contain a history of the various wars & conflicts and the equipment used by the service men and historical documents of the time, but is done in such a respectful manner.
The whole site is continually evolving with new exhibits, and is kept beautifully.
It is open to the public every day and you can just drive in and admire their work and is also a great place for contemplation.
It was a very timely visit with Remembrance Day last weekend.
Congratulations to Dave Rolfe our group coordinator for organizing the visit.
Next meeting is of course the Christmas Lunch!
